The traditional approach to English language training has done well to meet the needs of non-professional students. Today's global economy requires career-specific language that includes workplace culture and jargon for safe, effective delivery of professional services and the ability to coordinate research and treatment across borders. The ability of internationally acclaimed English tests of competency to train for or measure this is questionable, although they serve their purpose as preparation for advance language training.

Current methods of instruction most commonly used today for health professionals focus primarily on English language while secondarily embedding health care terminology in the lessons. These teaching strategies of lessons replete with medical terminology and simple dialogues about visits to the doctor's office and minor illnesses fail to meet the needs of the profession.

The author has developed a new methodology: a paradigm shift. Medical English is taught from the perspective of medicine and health care first and foremost while reinforcing vocabulary acquisition, grammar and structure secondly. The focus is safety-to-practice, a core curriculum for healthcare professional as medical doctor, midwives, pharmacies, public health, dentist, dental care, nurse, and other healthcare professional background, medical students also for standard licensing: a standard of practice. Teacher-tutors are required to be health professionals as well as language instructors. Lessons, interactions, and case studies represent simple and complex medical practices, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, pathology, treatment, etc. well beyond entry level English. On-line, internet access to our course, classroom course for medical personnel allows health professionals worldwide access to learning.

Goals are set to prepare students for continuing studies in English, as preparation to licensing exams, and for English language competency at work that is career-specific. Classroom courses take place in Aceh, Indonesia. They are perfect for small groups (maximum to 12 students). Lessons take place in a relaxed, fun and professional atmosphere. A variety of teaching methods are used including the use of multi-media and the MEC 'pseudo patient' technique.

MEC On- line Courses
This new and unique on-line course is perfect if you want to learn in the comfort of your own home anywhere in the world. Our on-line language courses are a very successful and convenient way of improving your language skills. The lessons can be one-to-one or for small groups. Skype is used in conjunction with a variety of on-line teaching resources and multi-media in order to provide a unique learning alternative. All language skills are targeted, as well as pronunciation, grammar and essential medical vocabulary.

UBELT/IELT & OET Test Preparation
These courses prepare you for the UBELT, IELT or OET test. If you are planning to work in an English speaking country as a healthcare professional, then you may be required to take a pre-entry language proficiency test. Sample tests and other methods are used to fully prepare you for success.
Healthcare Interview Preparation
Perfect for healthcare professionals hoping to work in an English speaking country. The course will prepare you for an English speaking healthcare interview. You will be exposed to and become familiar with a range of commonly used interview questions. You will undergo mock interviews and support will be given regarding interview techniques and assertiveness.
